Thailand 2025

It’s rainy season in Thailand but that didn’t stop me from heading on over! There wasn’t any rain to even put a dent in my plans. It only worked out in my benefit. On 2 tours I was a VIP and on my flights home I ended up with rows to myself. It was great to be able to lay down!

To get around town I used a few different modes of transportation. Those included walking, riding the train/subway, riding a tuk tuk, and riding a boat. It seemed really easy to get around and anything is better than being in a car around rush hour. Traffic gets pretty nuts.

Here are some pics of some of the food I ate (not all). And yes, I ate Mexican food in Thailand and it actually was better than some I’ve had around here.

I didn’t get into any of the night life. I much prefer the history and the food. I went on a tour each day I was there. Below is some of the info and pics on those tours.

Chinatown food tour

This was a walking tour in Chinatown. We ate at places on the main strip and even some places in alley ways. It was all really good. My favorite was probably the noodle soup that had pork belly and was real heavy on the pepper.

Ayutthaya Tour

This was my 2nd day there and I was picked up at 7am at my hotel. I was promptly told I was getting a VIP tour and that was fantastic. You’ll notice there’s a lot of pictures. My tour guide took 170 photos for me! She was awesome and held a lot of knowledge. Oh yeah, Wat means temple, that’s why you’ll see it so much. There are a lot of temples. You’ll also see a pic of me with some school on a field trip. Just something my tour guide did lol.

Train Market / Floating Market

This was probably my least favorite tour. The train market is not very big and the floating market just comes off as a bit gimmicky to me. I’m including a video of the train market but I wish I had gotten one when we pulled in on the train because that was unbelievable seeing all the people lining the track.

Grand Palace / Wat Pho / Wat Arun /Wat Sa Ket

This was a nice tour. Wat Pho and Wat Arun are 2 of the ‘big’ temples in Thailand. The grand palace was also so beautiful and intricately designed.

Hidden Canal / Wat Nak Klang

This was another VIP tour! Yes, so much winning. I rode the subway further than I did on my previous days. Not really sure what had gotten into me but for the first time ever during that ride i was so happy I packed Immodium! There’s not toilets in the stations and it was an emergency type of situation. It helped me get to a Starbucks. See, again, winning! The meeting place for the tour was a bit of a walk and I even had to find an alley to walk down. While I waited there I was talking to a guy about a temple next door and he just took me to see it! This tour was pretty cool. Much of it was in the ancient city area before one of the kings decided to move and then change the river flow.

Wat Saket / Wat Devaraj Kunchon / Wat Intharawihan

After my Hidden Canal tour I was walking down the road and planning to go to the Golden Mount temple. A tuk tuk driver stopped me and started talking to me. He then offered to drive me to 3 temples for 100 baht ($3 basically). Here are some photos from those temples.
